It is our privilege to welcome the readers to this volume of selected research papers from the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) sponsored national seminar on National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and its implementation. This present book is an outcome of the seminar organized in March 2023 at Tagore Government Arts and Science College, Puducherry. In this present volume, the selected papers have examined both the policy as well as structural aspects of the implementation of NEP 2020. The introduction of the National Education Policy 2020 represents a landmark moment in the educational history of Bharat. The Policy seeks an overhaul of the education system in India. The policy was approved by the government of India on July 29, 2020, when it replaced the previous education policy of 1986. The present policy attempts an overhaul of the education system in India and pays equal attention to the challenges and opportunities of primary education, school education, higher education, special education and research. The National Education Policy 2020 aims to reinvent the educational structure, integrate an India-centric philosophy of education, decolonize the institutions as well as the syllabus, enhance the employability of the students and reignite the research ecosystem of the country. Both at the theoretical and practical levels, the policy will be instrumental in navigating the educational concerns as well as developmental imperatives of Bharat in its journey to Viksit Bharat by 2047. The policy takes strong cognizance of the linguistic richness of the country and the diversity of its literary cultures.It seeks to foster multilingualism, integrate vocational education into regular education, and simplify the curriculum to improve critical thinking and foundational learning.
