Pteridophyta is a small but most interesting group of vascular plants which attracts all classes of people from careless rural persons to professional scientists. They attract them because of their beauty and grace. They are first land plants and occupying position between Bryophytes and Gymmosperms. They originated during Silurian period and comprised of well developed sporophyte generation with vascular strands. Pteridophytes are spore bearing plants and complete their life-cycle into two morphologically and cytologically distinct phases. Present book describes Pteridophytes of East-central Himalayas.
